GOP Reps Slam Congressional Inaction on ACA Subsidy Extension

Congress is running out of time to address the expiring credits used by millions of Americans to afford health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace. House Republicans, however, are moving forward with a plan that would not extend these credits.

GOP Rep. Kevin Kiley from California disagrees with this approach and says it’s “hastily thrown together” without addressing the growing health care cost crisis. He argues that the nearly 20 million people who rely on these credits shouldn’t have to pay the price for Congress’ inaction.

Kiley’s concerns are echoed by other House efforts aimed at addressing the looming health care cost spike. With a potential bipartisan solution uncertain, Americans with ACA coverage may face increased costs if Congress fails to act soon.
