A Missouri woman, 53, has pleaded guilty to mail fraud in connection with a scheme to put Elvis Presley’s iconic estate up for auction. Lisa Findley admitted to forging documents, including signatures from the late Elvis Presley’s daughter Lisa Marie and Florida notary Kimberly Philbrick, to claim that Lisa Marie did not pay back a $3.8 million loan.
Findley formed a brazen scheme to extort a settlement from the Presley family by falsely claiming that Lisa Marie owed the money. However, Philbrick denied ever notarizing anything for Lisa Marie and has no idea how her name got involved in the scheme.
The case was marked by a dramatic twist when a Shelby County chancellor issued a temporary injunction to prevent an auction of Graceland from taking place, citing an affidavit from Philbrick that stated her signature was forged. Findley faces a recommended 57-month federal prison sentence and is due back in court on June 19.
