Former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter has revealed that Harvey Weinstein was “banned” from the publication’s Oscars party for life due to his behavior. According to Carter, Weinstein regularly showed up with more guests than invited and would bully the staff, leading to a temporary ban that was later reinstated.
Weinstein had been editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair from 1992 to 2017 and began attending the magazine’s Oscar party in 1994. However, his reputation for being rude to staff and other celebrities soon led to him being excluded from future events.
Carter wrote about Weinstein’s behavior in his new book “When the Going Was Good”. More than 80 women have come forward with allegations of sexual harassment, assault, or rape against Weinstein since 2017. He was found guilty on multiple counts in 2020 and received a 23-year prison sentence.
In an interview, Carter referred to Weinstein as a bully who would use his power and influence to intimidate those who opposed him. Many of his Hollywood enablers have been criticized for their role in enabling his behavior, with some pretending they were unaware of or complicit in his actions.
