Grocery Store Workers in Puget Sound Approve Strike

Puget Sound grocery store workers have overwhelmingly rejected their latest contract, authorizing a strike by over 97%. The union’s strong support for the strike is a call to action for corporations like Fred Meyer, QFC, Albertsons, and Safeway.

The results show workers are no longer willing to wait for better wages, staffing, and stores. “Corporate has 60,000 problems on its hands,” said Kevin Flynn, referencing upcoming strikes in Colorado and Southern California.

A member-led bargaining team will return to the negotiating table next week. Workers can prepare for a potential strike by reviewing their budgets, contacting union representatives, and staying informed about strike schedules and benefits.
