A 44-year-old Dutch content creator who spends six months a year living on a cruise ship has spoken out about a habit she dislikes seeing from guests. Christine Kesteloo, who lives with her husband and works as a marketing expert and business owner, shares that she’s always excited to travel but misses certain comforts of land life.
Christine, who shares her adventures on TikTok under the handle @dutchworld_americangirl, has been living on cruise ships for over two years. She loves the freedom to explore new countries, meeting guests, and having social media connections to entertain herself.
However, she’s not a fan of seeing guests eating at the buffet after working out. “Sweaty, unwashed hands all over the buffet? No thanks,” she said. Christine also wants to clear up common misconceptions about cruise ships, stating that most myths are wrong and cruising is safe.
The couple plans to stay on cruise ships for at least the next two years, with exciting itineraries planned, including long cruises around Australia, Hawaii, and Antarctica. When her husband retires, they may return to land life, where Christine can finally have a cat.
Other comforts she misses include driving, good internet connections, family time, and even a cold McDonald’s diet coke. Despite these sacrifices, Christine finds joy in her adventures and can’t wait to share them with her social media friends.
