Civil rights, housing, and AIDS prevention groups are suing US President Donald Trump over his executive orders on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). The National Urban League, National Fair Housing Alliance, and the AIDS Foundation of Chicago filed a lawsuit in Washington D.C. federal court, alleging that Trump’s orders and agencies’ implementation penalize them for supporting DEIA and transgender rights, violating their right to free speech.
The groups claim that Trump’s actions disadvantage people of color, women, LGBTQ individuals, and those with disabilities, jeopardizing federal grants and contracts critical to their mission-driven work. This lawsuit joins dozens of others challenging Trump’s actions during his first month in office.
