Grove Street Games CEO Thomas Williamson has responded to the latest update for GTA The Trilogy Definitive Edition, criticizing Rockstar Games for removing primary developer mentions from credits. The update, which aims to bring the remastered versions of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas closer to their original incarnations, now features classic weather effects.
The changes include the removal of Grove Street Games’ name from the game’s start-up splash screen, sparking speculation that the developer’s name might be entirely removed. However, Williamson took to social media to express his disapproval, calling Rockstar’s move a “dick move” and emphasizing that the update includes hundreds of fixes provided by GSG developers.
The CEO noted that these changes are a result of years of work from GSG, which has now been taken out of player hands. Despite this, each member of the studio is still listed in the closing credits.
A release date for GTA 6 remains imminent, but the focus is on addressing issues with The Trilogy Definitive Edition, at least for now.
