Rockstar Games is set to release a free upgrade for Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) on PC next month, bringing the game in line with the features of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The update will include improved graphics options, faster loading times, and new content for GTA Online.
Key features of the update include:
* Improved graphics options, such as ray tracing and higher resolutions
* Faster loading times using SSD and DirectStorage
* Support for adaptive triggers on DualSense controllers
* Enhanced audio through Dolby Atmos
The upgrade will also include kernel-based anti-cheat protections and proactive voice chat moderation.
GTA Online players can expect new vehicles, performance upgrades, ambient animals, and more. However, previous edition players of GTA Online will not be able to play with newer version players.
Rockstar promised that support for the previous version will continue for those whose hardware does not meet the minimum requirements.
In other news, the next game in the series, GTA 6, is expected to release on consoles this year, with some speculating a PC release in early 2026.
