GTA Trilogy Receives Major Patch with Quality-of-Life Adjustments and Visual Improvements

Rockstar Games has released a significant update for the GTA Trilogy, a collection of Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas. The update, which was released on November 12, includes numerous quality-of-life adjustments and visual improvements.

While Rockstar initially downplayed the scope of the updates, they have revealed a more extensive list of changes, including new features such as the ability to run and gun with larger weapons in GTA III and Vice City. This feature, which was not present in the original games, allows players to wield shotguns, assault rifles, and flamethrowers simultaneously.

The update also addresses various glitches, including the inability to glitch through open water to access Liberty City’s other islands. Another notable change is the adjustment to the soda-drinking animation, where CJ now up-ends cans onto his face instead of pouring them into his mouth.

Rockstar has also removed mentions and logos of Grove Street Games from menus and splash screens, likely in an effort to emphasize the company’s own involvement with the game. The update is seen as a significant step forward for the trilogy, particularly given Vice City’s upcoming spotlight in GTA 6.

The updates come as a welcome change for fans of the series, who have been waiting two years for new content. As San Andreas celebrates its 20th anniversary, this patch serves as a fitting tribute to the game’s enduring legacy.
