Gunman’s Trail Leads to NYC Hostel After Greyhound Ride

A gunman suspected of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson took a bus ride to New York before the crime and used a fake driver’s license to check into an Upper West Side hostel. Authorities found smiling photos of the man, believed to be the suspect, that revealed his identity when he lowered his mask in a flirtatious moment with the hostel clerk.

Law enforcement sources discovered words “delay” and “depose” on a live round and shell casing, sparking investigation into possible motive, referencing insurance industry phrase “delay, deny, defend.” Police are tracking the suspect using surveillance videos, a burner phone, and a water bottle believed dropped at the shooting scene. One fingerprint lifted from the bottle was smudged, making it inconclusive.
