Gunshots were fired for the second time at a Tesla dealership in Tigard, Oregon, early Thursday morning. The incident occurred just days after similar vandalism happened at the same location on March 6. According to the Tigard Police Department, over a dozen shots were fired around 4:15 a.m., causing extensive damage to cars and showroom windows.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the shooting. The police are still investigating the incident with federal partners from the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives. An explosive detection dog has been used to search for shell casings at both crime scenes.
Tesla dealerships have been targeted by protests and vandalism across the US this year. The company’s CEO Elon Musk has been a key figure in the Trump administration, leading to demonstrations against his Department of Government Efficiency initiatives aimed at reducing federal government size. In recent incidents, Tesla vehicles were vandalized with swastikas and profanity directed at Musk.
The Seattle Police Department is investigating another incident where four Cybertrucks were destroyed in a blaze on Sunday, although investigators have not confirmed if the fire was intentionally set. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump recently stated that he’s buying a new Tesla to show his support for Musk amid declining sales and stock prices.
