Half-Life 3 Leaker Reveals Playtesting Progress, Summer Release Hints

A potential Half-Life 3 game, known as HLX, is reportedly being extensively playtested ahead of its possible summer reveal and winter release. According to Valve leaker Tyler McVicker, the project’s procedural generation features are not related to roguelike mechanics or VR gameplay, as seen in Half-Life: Alyx.

Instead, these features will build upon a system used in Left 4 Dead Director, influencing aspects such as doors, physics, props, enemy types, and non-player characters. While no official announcement has been made, the playtesting progress suggests that HLX is nearing completion, with content or mechanics locked at this stage.

The leaker believes the game could be revealed this summer for a winter release, which would provide a much-needed update to the Half-Life series, given Alyx’s age and the lack of new content since then. If confirmed as a legitimate entry in the series, HLX would bring welcome news to fans, even if it may not ultimately prove to be Half-Life 3 itself.
