Former Detroit Pistons star Isiah Thomas weighed in on Sunday’s altercation between the Pistons and Timberwolves, calling out the aggressor in a heated exchange with Timberwolves coach Chris Finch. The scuffle, which involved rookie Ron Holland and veteran guard Donte DiVincenzo, led to the ejection of seven people, including coaches and players.
Thomas stated that he sees DiVincenzo as the aggressor, who collared Holland and ran him up into the stands. Thomas defended the Pistons’ physical brand of basketball, saying they play a different style than other teams in the league. He praised head coach J.B. Bickerstaff’s approach, which he believes allows the team to win in their own way.
The NBA has yet to issue disciplinary actions stemming from the incident, but Thomas’s comments have added fuel to the debate over the Pistons’ playing style and whether it was justified as aggressive or not.
