Hamas Considers New Ceasefire Proposal Amid Gaza War Tensions

Hamas is studying new ceasefire proposals aimed at ending the Gaza war, but the group insists on an agreement that would bring about a lasting peace. The Palestinian group received proposals from mediators and is holding talks to “bridge gaps” for a potential agreement.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said the proposal has gained popularity among Israelis, including in the government and public at large. However, the situation remains tense, with Israeli officials warning of escalating military operations in Gaza if ceasefire negotiations stall.

The US-backed 60-day ceasefire proposal has sparked skepticism from Hamas, which is seeking a comprehensive agreement that would end the war and ensure Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza. Meanwhile, Netanyahu said “there will be no Hamas” in post-war Gaza, fueling concerns about the group’s future.

As tensions escalate, hospital director Marwan al-Sultan was killed in an Israeli strike on Wednesday, along with four children and seven women. The attack has raised questions about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where over 90% of the population has been displaced.

The ongoing conflict has resulted in at least 56,647 deaths and 134,105 injuries in Gaza, while over 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks.
