Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton’s maiden drive for Ferrari was marked by frustration, as he finished 10th at the Australian Grand Prix. His team’s strategy call on intermediate tires proved costly, dropping him from the lead to ninth before a late mistake sealed his position.
Hamilton started eighth but spent early laps behind Alex Albon’s Williams car. He took the lead on lap 46 after those ahead pitted for fresh tires, only to be passed by Oscar Piastri in the final lap, promoting Hamilton to tenth place.
The seven-time champion cited strategy and timing issues as key factors in his disappointing result, saying “we missed a big opportunity” after pitting too late. Hamilton also struggled with the balance of his Ferrari, but viewed the race as an important learning experience for himself and the team.
Ferrari’s new driver will be hoping to bounce back from this setback in the next Grand Prix, which promises to be even more challenging given the change in weather conditions.
