Gemini fills the gaps between sources, helping me explore angles that aren’t covered by my uploaded material. This AI assistant is perfect for writing about topics, getting quick checks, comparisons, or brainstorming ideas.
However, even with these powerful tools, I needed something to connect the dots and keep everything organized. That’s where Obsidian comes in – providing a vault structure where every note stays together, using backlinks and tags to link concepts.
By combining NotebookLM, Gemini, and Obsidian, I’ve created a workflow that keeps my work sustainable for the long term. Here’s how it works: I start with NotebookLM, generating summaries and explanations from my uploaded material. Then, I move these useful pieces into Obsidian, where they can be connected to other notes.
When I want to explore something deeper, such as a psychological model or historical event, Gemini steps in, filling the gaps between what I read and what I understand. And when I get valuable insights from Gemini, I store them in Obsidian, creating maps of concepts and cross-linking related ideas.
To make this three-app workflow feel seamless, it’s essential to establish small habits, such as standardizing the way you feed information into NotebookLM or creating a dedicated Inbox note in Obsidian.
