US Presidential candidate Kamala Harris made her closing pitch for the presidency at a historically Black church in Michigan, while her Republican rival Donald Trump rallied in Pennsylvania. Polls show the pair locked in a tight race, with Vice President Harris bolstered by strong support among women voters and former President Trump gaining ground with Hispanic voters.
Harris addressed parishioners at the Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ in Detroit, urging them to take action to shape their nation’s future. However, she faces skepticism from Arab Americans in Michigan who are frustrated over her lack of efforts to end the Gaza war and scale back aid to Israel.
Trump’s rallies focused on rural voters, with him frequently abandoning his teleprompter to deliver off-the-cuff remarks criticizing polls showing movement for Harris. Trump is also set to speak in North Carolina and Georgia ahead of Tuesday’s Election Day.
Control of the US Congress is up for grabs, with Republicans favored to capture a majority in the Senate while Democrats seen as having an even chance of flipping Republicans’ narrow majority in the House of Representatives.
