Prince Harry says his life in the United States is what his mother, Princess Diana, would have wanted for him. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to Montecito, California four years ago to pursue a more private and independent lifestyle.
Speaking at The New York Times Dealbook Summit, Prince Harry revealed that he enjoys living in America with his children and appreciates the greater degree of privacy and freedom they enjoy compared to the UK. He has also pursued legal action to address changes to his police protection when visiting the UK, citing concerns over security.
Prince Harry discussed the impact of life under the spotlight on his mental health, particularly after Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997. He expressed feelings of helplessness and inner turmoil, saying that what worried him was “that would happen to me” or his loved ones.
For now, Prince Harry is focused on being a devoted husband and father, joking about the press attention he and his wife receive as having moved house multiple times.
