The community came out in force on Thursday as around 600 members of the public gathered at Hart High School in Newhall for the annual ASB Community Holiday Dinner. The event, which began at 5 o’clock, featured free dinner, blankets, a food and clothing drive, and opportunities for kids to meet Santa Claus.
Organized by ASB students and staff, the donations came from the community, including over 600 tamales purchased with funds raised by Hart High staff. Project Linus donated around 350 handmade blankets, while Emblem Academy in Saugus contributed about 200. The event was also supported by local businesses such as Honu Coffee, Egg Plantation, and Firehouse Subs.
Hart social workers and ASB students ran a food and clothing drive on campus, while guests enjoyed a winter wonderland of Christmas trees and lights, featuring Santa Claus and his helpers. The 52 ASB student volunteers spent weeks wrapping gifts, which included toys for babies and children up to 12 years old.
Area families look forward to this annual event every year, with some waiting over an hour in line for food and other services. Local residents praised the community’s spirit of giving, saying it was worth the wait. The Hart High School ASB Community Holiday Dinner is a cherished tradition that brings together the community to give back during the holiday season.
