A newly discovered object in space has sparked debate among scientists, with some believing it could be an alien craft. Professor Avi Loeb from Harvard University thinks the “3I/ATLAS” comet may have extraterrestrial origins.
Loeb and his team are monitoring the comet’s unusual course, which will take it close to Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. He believes the object appears “intelligently” directed and suggests that if it is alien, humanity should prepare for a potential encounter.
Loeb compared assessing the risk to the Richter scale used for earthquakes, with zero indicating a natural comet and ten signifying an object with technological capabilities. The comet will pass closest to the sun on October 29, but NASA assures that it poses no threat to Earth.
Loeb’s comments are in line with his previous statements about alien life, as he believes there is evidence of extraterrestrial life elsewhere in our solar system. He argues that assuming we are alone in the universe would be “arrogant.”
