Gabriel Macht’s iconic character Harvey Specter is back on TV with a guest appearance in the new Suits spinoff series Suits LA. The show stars Stephen Amell as Ted Black, a former New York prosecutor turned Los Angeles-based lawyer specializing in criminal and entertainment law. Creator Aaron Korsh, who also worked on the original Suits series, aimed to maintain a connection to the original by casting Macht’s character.
Korsh reconnected with Macht while working on a T-Mobile ad for the spinoff and was able to convince him to return with a guest role in the pilot. Fans of the original series are excited about the new show, which Korsh believes will appeal to those willing to let go of the familiar cast. Korsh plans to keep the door open for other original cast members to appear in future episodes.
Amell is also a fan of the Harvey Specter appearance and appreciates the connection to the original series. Korsh had already identified Amell as the right lead actor during his audition, leaving room for potential future projects within the Suits universe. The creator is open to new ideas but prefers not to rush into something without inspiration.
Suits LA premieres Sunday on NBC and the following day on Peacock.
