HBO Casts Young Trio for “Harry Potter” TV Series

HBO’s highly anticipated “Harry Potter” TV series has found its lead cast members. Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will portray Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout will bring Ron Weasley to life.

The trio auditioned out of over 30,000 hopefuls who responded to HBO’s open casting call last fall. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod expressed their excitement about the discovery, praising the unique talent of McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout.

McLaughlin, a relatively new face in the industry, recently appeared in the upcoming comedy “Grow” alongside Nick Frost. Stanton’s credits include starring as Matilda in the West End production from 2023-2024. Stout will make his major acting debut with this role.

Joining McLaughlin and Stanton are notable cast members such as John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, and Paul Whitehouse, who round out the Hogwarts faculty. The series is set to begin filming this summer, marking a new chapter for the beloved franchise.

Author J.K. Rowling serves as an executive producer alongside other key creatives, although some have raised concerns about her views on the transgender community. HBO has stated that “Harry Potter” will remain separate from these personal opinions and will be produced without any influence from them.
