Heart Transplant Patient 12 Refused List Over Vaccine Status

A 12-year-old girl from Indiana with a rare heart condition is facing an uncertain future after her hospital refused to add her to the transplant waiting list due to her vaccine status. Adaline Deal, who has two heart conditions that require a transplant, was told by her doctor that she was in heart failure.

Her parents, Jeneen and Brayton Deal, are Christians who object to vaccination on religious grounds. Despite this, they have been told by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital that their daughter will not be put on the list unless she receives Covid-19 and flu vaccinations.

The hospital’s policy requires patients on the transplant waiting list to receive vaccinations, citing the risk of infection from other at-risk individuals in the hospital. The Deals are refusing to vaccinate Adaline, saying it conflicts with their religious beliefs.

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital has released a statement explaining its vaccination policy for transplant patients, stating that vaccines play a critical role in preventing life-threatening infections. However, the hospital will not honor the Deals’ objections and refuses to put Adaline on the list unless she is vaccinated.

The Deals are now considering taking Adaline to a different transplant center that does not require vaccinations. They have also set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for the transplant, which has raised over $58,000 of their goal.
