Swedish captain Victor Hedman believes Canada will win the 4 Nations Face-Off final against the United States in Boston’s TD Garden. However, he thinks the tournament’s final match will be a close contest.
Hedman’s Swedish team defeated the host US 2-1 on Monday. When asked about his choice for the championship game, he was hesitant due to potential media scrutiny. Despite his grins indicating amusement at the situation, Hedman acknowledged it would be discussed by his Tampa Bay Lightning teammates from both Canada and the US.
Hedman has won two Stanley Cup championships with the Tampa Bay Lightning, coached by Canadian Jon Cooper. Lightening forwards Brayden Point, Anthony Cirelli, and Brandon Hagel play for Canada, while Jake Guentzel plays for the United States.
When asked about his choice, Hedman replied that it was a tough call due to having friends on both teams. However, he ultimately predicts Canada will get revenge by winning the championship game, despite being on home ice.
