Helldivers 2 Review Bomb Cape Now Available to Players

A year after a contentious review bomb on its release, Helldivers 2’s long-awaited commemorative cape is finally here. The game initially faced backlash due to Sony’s mandatory PSN requirement, but the situation was resolved when the company changed its stance on PC players. In response, former Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt shared a community-designed cape featuring four red vertical lines that mirrored the game’s Steam review sentiment graph during the review bombing.

Fans responded enthusiastically, with Pilestedt confirming in May that the team was discussing an official name and design for the cape. Last May, a cropped portion of the cape was teased, hinting at its legitimacy. Now, over a year later, the Pillars of Freedom cape is being released as a keepsake to honor players’ unwavering support for democracy.

The new uniform piece will be available in all Super Destroyer Armouries once the rollout is complete, and it will be awarded to existing players. A message from Arrowhead notes that the item may take some time to arrive in players’ inboxes, as with previous item rollouts.
