In a tweet, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos asked fans for suggestions, and the response was overwhelmingly in favor of Henry Cavill. The Superman and Witcher actor has long been a fan favorite to take on the role after previously auditioning in 2006.
Cavill’s odds of playing Bond have increased following his recent casting in Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000 project. This could be a sign that he may also consider starring as Bond. In 2023, Casino Royale director Martin Campbell expressed his admiration for Cavill’s acting abilities during an audition, calling him “tremendous” and praising his physical appearance.
Campbell previously stated that Daniel Craig was the chosen one due to being the younger option at the time, but now that Craig is no longer in the franchise, it’s possible that Cavill could be a viable candidate. The director also hinted that Bond producers were looking for someone who could take on three films, suggesting that Cavill’s age might make him an attractive option.
With Henry Cavill currently 40 years old, he would have completed his third Bond film by the time he turned 50, making him a strong contender to take on the role.
