Blizzard’s iconic crossover MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in a big way. For the next few weeks, players can enjoy every single character in the game for free, even if they haven’t unlocked them yet. Additionally, two new anniversary portraits will be available to unlock simply by logging into the game.
To commemorate this milestone, Heroes of the Storm also released a brand-new skin called Gear Head Thrall, which features a unique cell-shaded style not seen before in any other skin. The skin can be purchased in the shop for 1500 Gems, but it’s also possible to earn them through gameplay.
The anniversary update includes some nostalgic changes, such as a revamped main menu and startup music, and several balance adjustments and bug fixes. These include the removal of minimum cast range for certain hero abilities, like Brightwing’s Arcane Flare, Hanzo’s Sonic Arrow, and Tychus’ Frag Grenade.
Despite no official revival plans announced, Blizzard continues to support the game, and there’s a possibility that future unreleased skins may be released in the future. The Classic Games team has been searching for other unreleased Heroes of the Storm skins like Gear Head Thrall.
The 10th anniversary celebration comes ahead of an upcoming update planned for May 2025, which will roll out only a few weeks before the milestone. Players can expect more exciting updates and changes in the coming months.
