According to photographer Gabe Cortez, who witnessed the incident, Max’s family was evacuated due to the explosion, leaving the dog alone and frightened. Lee’s compassionate actions helped calm the dog before being escorted to safety by dog trainer Christopher Abkarian.
Lee shared his experience with ABC News, describing the scene as “a really sad position” for the dog.
