HGTV Host Loren Ruch Dies at 55 from Pneumonia After Cancer Treatment

HGTV host Loren Ruch has passed away at the age of 55 due to complications from pneumonia. However, his family is clarifying that he was cancer-free after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia a year ago.

Ruch, who was the head of content for HGTV and co-host of “HGTV House Party”, had taken a turn for the worse just a few weeks ago after seeming to be on the road to recovery. His health declined quickly, including a lung collapsing, due to a weakened immune system from his cancer treatment.

The family plans a small service in NYC followed by a large celebration of life in L.A., as per Ruch’s wishes. He is survived by his mother Dolly Norris, husband David Salas, brother Geoffrey, father Larry, and stepfather Will Waterman.
