High-Speed Train Collides with Fire Truck in Florida, Injuring Multiple Passengers

A high-speed train collided with a fire truck in downtown Delray Beach, Florida, on Saturday, leaving three firefighters and 12 passengers injured. The incident occurred after the fire truck reportedly maneuvered around lowered crossing arms and into the path of an approaching freight train.

The collision happened at 10:45 a.m., causing significant damage to both vehicles. The Brightline train’s front was destroyed, while its ladder was ripped off and found several yards away from the scene. Three Delray Beach firefighters were hospitalized in stable condition, while 12 people from the train were treated for minor injuries.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with debris scattered across the area. Firefighters climbed out of their damaged truck to rescue injured colleagues, while one witness reported seeing the fire truck’s helmet lodged hundreds of feet away from the crash site.

The Federal Railroad Administration has launched an investigation into the incident, which is the latest in a string of safety concerns surrounding Brightline’s operations in Florida. The railroad has faced scrutiny over its safety record, following a series of fatal incidents along its route between Miami and Orlando.
