Hilton Milwaukee Hotel Undergoes $40 Million Renovation

The 96-year-old Hilton Milwaukee hotel is getting a major facelift at a cost of $40 million. The project, set to be completed by summer 2025, will revamp the hotel’s lobby, guest rooms, and event spaces. Located in downtown Milwaukee, the 729-room hotel will undergo its most extensive renovation in Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ history.

The hotel, which is also connected to the Baird Center via a skywalk, will see significant changes to its guest rooms, including new furnishings, lighting, carpeting, and bathroom amenities. The bathrooms will feature newly tiled showers, marble countertops, and luxury finishes.

Meeting and event spaces will also undergo renovations, preserving the property’s original 20th-century design elements while adding modern features such as a state-of-the-art sound system, updated HVAC, and digital signage.

The decision to scale back available rooms from all 729 to 554 was based on current market conditions and the risks associated with new hotel room supply. The project is part of Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ efforts to align its investment criteria with challenging market dynamics.

“Hilton Milwaukee has been a mainstay in Milwaukee since 1928, and we’re thrilled to usher in a new modern era that honors its style and elegance,” said Michael Evans, president of Marcus Hotels & Resorts.
