Hoda Kotb’s Joy 101: Embracing Wellness at 60

At 60, TV host and author Hoda Kotb is debuting her wellness company, Joy 101. A week before its launch, she was in a whirlwind of meetings to secure sponsors, experts, and employees.

“I’m hopeful, and I’m also proud that we did something,” Kotb said. “We’re not just talking about it; something’s going to be put out into the world.” The company offers an app and events that aim to enhance users’ lives with a tailor-made program.

Kotb has long been interested in wellness but only recently started taking steps to prioritize her own health. She began a breathwork practice, which led to an emotional breakthrough, and soon noticed a shift in herself and those around her.

“I’m not trying to fix everyone; I’m just trying to help,” Kotb said. “Everybody seems really tired, and everybody’s got more than they can carry. That’s what I’m trying to take off their plate.”

The app, which launches on June 11, costs $16.99 a month or $99 for the year. It includes daily doses of her optimism and wisdom, as well as research-backed classes and wellness sessions focused on brain health, breathwork, mindfulness, personal growth, and sleep.

At 60, Kotb has realized that she can be a beginner again. “You can evolve; you can change,” she said. “The learning process is unending, and anyone who says they’re stuck in their ways is because they’re choosing to be.”

Kotb’s journey into wellness was motivated by her desire to prioritize her own health and well-being. She believes that embracing wellness at any age is possible and encourages others to take the first step.
