Holiday Food Recalls Alert Consumers to Potential Contamination

Several popular holiday foods are under recall due to potential contamination or undeclared ingredients that could trigger allergic reactions. The US FDA has issued recalls for Christmas-related food products, including Lay’s Classic Potato Chips, oysters, Aroma Vita Hot Cocoa Mix, and Kirkland Signature organic eggs.

The recalls were initiated after the discovery of milk in certain batches of Lay’s chips sold in Oregon and Washington, metal fragments in Aroma Vita Hot Cocoa Mix distributed across 17 states, and salmonella contamination in Handsome Brook Farms’ organic pasture-raised eggs sold at 25 Costco stores.

Consumers are advised to check their products for the following:

* Lay’s Classic Potato Chips: packaged in a flexible bag with a guaranteed-fresh date of February 11, 2025, and a manufacturing code of either 6462307xx or 6463307xx.
* Oysters from Rudy’s Shellfish (Pickering Passage growing area in Washington): harvested between November 15 to December 11.
* Aroma Vita Hot Cocoa Mix: packaged with a UPC of 7 1908 50007 0 and a case UPC of 50719098500075.
* Kirkland Signature organic eggs: packaged in a plastic carton with the Julian code 327 and a use-by date of January 6, 2025.

The FDA urges consumers to stay informed about current recalls and check their products regularly. For a full list of FDA recalls, visit fda.gov.
