Hollywood Returns to Utah for Sundance Film Festival

Hollywood is making its return to Utah as the 2025 Sundance Film Festival kicks off in Park City. Thousands of people are expected to attend, boosting the local economy and creating opportunities for Utahns and businesses. Filmmakers and moviegoers from around the world will converge on Park City, with notable Utah locals sharing their experiences.
Jeff Barnard, owner of The Eating Establishment, noted that Main St. remained bustling despite the deadly New Orleans truck attack last year. This festival has become one of his busiest events each year, even in challenging circumstances.
Utah filmmaker Cole Webley, whose first feature film was shot here, is excited about premiering his work at Sundance. The film, “Omaha,” represents Utah’s contribution to the world stage, according to senior programmer Heidi Zwicker.
While the future of Sundance may not always be in Utah, this weekend promises a packed event with record crowds and a wide selection of films. Sundance officials have announced that the festival will return to Salt Lake City and Park City in 2027.
