Hollywood Targets Trump at Mark Twain Prize Ceremony

President Donald Trump received shots from comedians at the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor ceremony in Washington, D.C., weeks after unveiling changes to the Kennedy Center’s leadership structure. The event honored television host and comedian Conan O’Brien.

Comedian Sarah Silverman took aim at Trump during her speech, referencing a 2016 appearance on Conan where she dressed up as Adolf Hitler. She also poked fun at Trump’s executive order affecting the Department of Education and his leaked Access Hollywood tape.

Other comedians, including John Mulaney, Will Ferrell, Nikki Glaser, and Conan O’Brien himself, made jokes about Trump’s shake-up at the Kennedy Center. While some acknowledged the elephant in the room, others chose to focus on celebrating the purpose of the event: honoring American humor and comedian Conan O’Brien.

The ceremony also saw tributes from other winners of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, including Tina Fey, Dave Chappelle, Ellen DeGeneres, Adam Sandler, and Kevin Hart.
