Homeland Security Secretary Criticizes Minnesota Leaders on Immigration

US Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently visited the Twin Cities, praising efforts to crack down on illegal immigration and remove those considered “worst of the worst” from the US. She highlighted recent arrests by federal agents in Minnesota, including a Mexican national accused of child sexual assault and a Salvadoran charged with human trafficking.

Noem stated that laws are enforced, regardless of who disagrees with them, and that lawmakers should work to change them if necessary. This visit comes three weeks after the DOJ sued Minnesota over its sanctuary policies, calling them a violation of federal law.

During her appearance, Noem criticized Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, stating their leadership has led to a “refusal to defend American citizens.” She implied that these leaders’ decisions allow dangerous individuals to remain in the state.
