Honda Auto Plant to Scale Back Production Due to Chip Shortage

Honda’s auto plant in Marysville will start reducing production starting Monday due to a shortage of computer chips used in car manufacturing. The company is adjusting its production to manage the limited supply of parts and meet customer needs.

A chip shortage connected to Nexperia, a Dutch company that supplies chips to carmakers, is causing the issue. This shortage affects many vehicle systems. To help employees during this time, Honda offers flexible work arrangements, including working at impacted facilities, using paid vacation time, or taking unpaid leave.

There are four “No Pay No Penalty” days scheduled for October 30-31 and November 3-7. The impact on production duration is not yet determined, but the company will provide more information as needed.
