Honda is recalling approximately 259,000 vehicles due to a problem with the brake pedal assembly that could pose a safety risk. The affected models include the 2023-2025 Honda Pilot, 2023-2025 Acura MDX, and 2021-2025 Acura TLX.
The issue stems from pivot pins not being “staked” during production, which can cause the brake pedal to shift out of position. This may result in unintended braking or compromise drivers’ ability to safely slow or stop the vehicle. If left unchecked, it could also lead to abnormal brake pedal feelings, illuminate the brake malfunction light, or keep the vehicle’s brake lights lit even when the brake pedal is not applied.
No injuries or deaths have been reported as a result of this issue. Honda will provide free repairs for affected owners by inspecting the brake pedal assemblies at participating dealerships. Owners can expect to receive letters with instructions on how to bring their vehicles in for inspection and repair by late July.
The recall affects over 1.2 million Honda and Acura vehicles sold in the US last year, highlighting the importance of prompt recalls and proactive maintenance for vehicle owners.
