Honda Shifts Civic Hybrid Production to Greensburg, Indiana

Honda is set to shift its new Civic Hybrid production from Guanajuato, Mexico, to Greensburg, Indiana, according to Reuters reports. The move is seen as a response to President Donald Trump’s upcoming tariffs.

The plant, which opened in 2008, currently produces the Civic and CRV vehicles. Production of the hybrid model will start in May 2028 and result in approximately 210,000 vehicles per year.

Local business owners are optimistic about the prospect of the new production facility, with some estimating that up to 40-50% of their business comes from Honda employees. The plant’s investment of around $550 million has already had a significant impact on the local economy.

Honda denies the report, stating that it has not made any official announcements and will not comment further. However, if the move does occur, it could lead to additional investments in the city, benefiting local businesses such as Wings and Rings restaurant.
