Horner Calls for Monaco Circuit Changes to Boost Overtaking

Christian Horner, Red Bull team principal, has expressed his dissatisfaction with this year’s Monaco Grand Prix, calling for a change in circuit layout to improve overtaking. The long-standing Formula 1 event has been criticized by fans and drivers alike, who feel that the tight track limits the ability of modern cars to pass each other.

Horner suggests creating more braking areas on the exit of the tunnel or turn one could help increase overtaking opportunities. He believes the current circuit design makes it difficult for drivers to get alongside each other due to the size of the cars.

Despite new regulations next year, which will make F1 cars narrower and shorter, Horner doubts they alone will be enough to significantly improve overtaking at Monaco.

The circuit has undergone eight major changes since its inception in 1929, many driven by safety concerns. However, Horner argues that it’s time for further modifications, citing the potential benefits of increased overtaking as a way to make the event more engaging for fans and drivers alike.

Horner believes that with the right design changes, even iconic circuits like Monaco can adapt to modern racing standards while preserving their historic charm.
