The Charlotte Hornets secured their first NBA 2K Summer League championship with a hard-fought 83-78 win over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Rookie Kon Knueppel’s team-high 21 points and a strong defensive effort helped propel his team to victory.
Knueppel was instrumental in the game, scoring four key points including a clutch three-pointer and a free throw in the final minutes. He also complemented his scoring total with five rebounds and two assists.
The Kings put up a valiant effort, led by Isaac Jones’ 24-point, 11-rebound double-double, but ultimately fell short. The Hornets dominated the first quarter, building a 34-18 lead before the Kings narrowed the deficit to six points at intermission.
Charlotte’s defense stepped up in the third quarter, pushing its advantage back to 11 points going into the final period. The Kings got within one point twice in the fourth quarter but couldn’t overcome Knueppel’s clutch performance to seal the championship for the Hornets.
The win marked a dominant performance by the Hornets in the NBA 2K Summer League, with the team going undefeated throughout the tournament.
