Horror Franchise Revival: Final Destination: Bloodlines Sees Record Opening

Warner Bros’ New Line’s horror reboot, Final Destination: Bloodlines, has broken records with its $43 million three-day gross from 3,523 theaters, including $5.5 million in previews. This marks the best opening ever for a Final Destination movie.

Sinners, another Warner Bros release, is performing well, with a fifth weekend of $15 million and a record-breaking hold for an R-rated horror movie. Its running total stands at around $240 million, with 70MM Imax auditoriums this week.

Disney’s Thunderbolts* takes the second spot with a third weekend of $16 million from 3,960 theaters. The film is 14% ahead of Eternals at the same point in time.

Lionsgate and Live Nation’s Hurry Up Tomorrow has a low opening, with some reports suggesting it pulled in only $8.7 million for The Weeknd’s concert tour stop alone.

Experts predict that Sinners will end up beating Thunderbolts at the box office, with some analysts calling for Sinners to score around $18 million. Despite mixed reviews from critics, audiences have been generous, with a 75% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The horror genre is experiencing a resurgence, and Final Destination: Bloodlines is leading the charge. With its record-breaking opening, it’s clear that Warner Bros has made the right decision in reviving the franchise after a long hiatus.
