Hotel in Turkey’s Ski Resort Burned Without Basic Safety Features

A ski resort hotel in northern Turkey, which tragically burned down yesterday, failed to implement even the most basic safety measures against fires. The death toll has risen to 78 individuals, according to Hurriyet newspaper reports.

The 12-story Grand Kartal hotel in Bolu province reportedly lacked fire sprinklers and had non-functional alarms and smoke detectors. Additionally, its emergency staircases inside the building also caught fire due to a lack of fire-resistant doors. The report did not specify where it obtained this information but emphasized that such negligence was a significant contributing factor to the tragedy.
