Dan Ziskie, the talented actor known for his roles in Netflix’s ‘House of Cards’ and HBO’s ‘Treme’, has passed away at the age of 80. He died on July 21 due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Ziskie played Vice President Jim Mathews on six episodes of ‘House of Cards’. Born on August 13, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, Ziskie studied English at the University of Michigan before pursuing a career in arts and athletics. He later joined Second City’s improv troupe in Chicago, honing his acting skills.
Ziskie’s extensive TV credits include appearances in ‘Gossip Girl’, ‘Law & Order’, and HBO’s ‘Treme’. He also starred in several films, including ‘The Adventures in Babysitting’ and ‘Concussion’.
In addition to acting, Ziskie was a gifted photographer. His first photobook, ‘Cloud Chamber’, published in 2017, features New York street photography captured between 2013 and 2016.
Ziskie is survived by his family, including his wife Cynthia, brother David, and six children. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy as a talented performer will live on through the characters he portrayed on stage and screen.
