HRC Unveils “These Colors Don’t Run” Theme and Pride Events Amid Attacks on LGBTQ+ Community

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, is kicking off Pride Month with a defiant tone. Despite unprecedented attacks from politicians, HRC has grown to a record 3.6 million members and supporters, spanning every state in the union and congressional district.

To celebrate this milestone, HRC will participate in over 150 pride events nationwide, marking the 10th anniversary of nationwide marriage equality. The organization’s theme for Pride 2025 is “These Colors Don’t Run,” emphasizing resilience and strength in the face of adversity.

HRC has scheduled several high-profile events, including a youth-centered activation called “Pride Rising” on May 30th, hosted by OutVote in partnership with D.C. Mayor Bowser’s Office of LGBTQ Affairs. The event aims to re-engage young people who have become disillusioned with politics.

On June 6th, HRC will join forces with Vote Save America and the Immigrant Defenders Law Center for a protest in support of Andry José Hernández Romero, a 31-year-old gay make-up artist and asylum seeker from Venezuela. Despite seeking safety in the US, Andry was unjustly detained by El Salvadoran authorities.

HRC is also gearing up for a Supreme Court rally on the day of US v. Skrmetti, which will likely decide whether Tennessee’s state-level ban on transgender healthcare violates the US Constitution. The organization plans to host simultaneous rallies in Washington, D.C. and New York City, with additional events across the country.

As Pride Month unfolds, HRC is celebrating its members’ voices being heard through 350,000 actions taken so far this year, including writing to lawmakers and showing up at rallies. To show appreciation for its members, HRC will launch its 5th annual Membership Appreciation Day on June 1st.
