Huawei has officially launched its tri-fold device, the Mate XT, making it the world’s first commercially available foldable phone with three viewable screens. The device was initially released in China but is now available globally, except for the US.
The Mate XT features two hinges, one of which has a vulnerable foldable glass edge. When closed, the phone measures 6.4 inches. When unfolded, it displays a 7.9-inch screen, and when fully opened, it expands to a massive 10.2-inch screen – comparable to a modern tablet.
Huawei claims that the Mate XT is the largest tri-fold device available, but this may change once other companies release their own models. The phone is also notable for being the world’s thinnest foldable when unfolded, measuring just 3.6mm.
