WWE legend Hulk Hogan was met with a jeering crowd when he stepped out to promote his new beer brand on the opening night of Netflix’s Monday Night Raw. The 71-year-old veteran made an appearance during the event, accompanied by longtime manager Jimmy Hart and Real American Beer, his new brew signed with Netflix.
Hogan attempted to salvage the situation, thanking the fans for their support over the years. He compared himself to a tag-team partner, highlighting his partnership with WWE and introducing his beer as his “new tag-team partner.” Hogan also referenced his past partnerships with other wrestlers, including Macho Man Randy Savage and Andre the Giant.
The crowd’s reaction was unexpected, considering Hogan’s long history with WWE and his in-ring accomplishments. However, it’s possible that his increasingly vocal support for President-elect Donald Trump might have contributed to the negative response. The wrestling promotion is closely tied to the Trump administration, with Vince McMahon’s wife Linda serving as Trump’s Small Business Administrator from 2016 to 2019.
The event took place just days after Trump survived an assassination attempt in July last year and Hogan had publicly praised Trump at a Republican National Convention rally earlier this year. Hogan’s introduction of Trump at Madison Square Garden was also notable, although he struggled to rip up his shirt during the performance.
