Hulu has ordered a three-part true crime documentary series about Ruby Franke, a former YouTube mom blogger who was sentenced to prison for child abuse. The series, titled Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke, is produced by Passion Pictures and directed by Olly Lambert.
The series follows Ruby’s story, from her arrest in August 2023 and the subsequent trending story in America, to the cracks that began to show in her seemingly perfect family life. With millions of followers on YouTube, the Frankes’ channel had documented a wholesome, happy family life, but behind closed doors, the family was trapped in a nightmare.
This series is significant as it marks the first time Ruby’s two eldest adult children and husband will share their story in depth on camera. The series capitalizes on the growing popularity of true crime documentary storytelling, offering viewers a chance to explore the motivations of those involved, concerns about justice, and the thrill of solving a real-life whodunnit.
Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke joins Hulu’s growing list of documentary programming, including God Forbid, Victoria’s Secret, Stolen Youth, Freaknik, Road Diary, and other titles.
