Hungary’s Ambassador Snubbed by Poland Ahead of EU Presidency

Relations between Hungary and Poland have soured over recent months, particularly after Budapest granted asylum to a Polish fugitive in December. The move sparked outrage from Warsaw, which is now taking the reins of the Council of the EU as its presidency begins with an inauguration gala at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw on Friday. The event was not attended by Hungary’s ambassador to Poland, according to a government minister.
