Hurricanes Advance to Eastern Conference Final After Sweeping Caps in Series

The Carolina Hurricanes continue their winning ways after defeating the Washington Capitals in a five-game series. The Canes’ strong goaltending from Frederik Andersen and stifling defense helped them secure the win, with goalie Logan Thompson left shaking his head after watching Andrei Svechnikov’s game-winning goal.

Svechnikov scored off a sharp-angle shot with 1:59 left in regulation, giving the Hurricanes a 3-1 victory. Jordan Staal also found the back of the net for the Canes, while Anthony Beauvillier replied for the Capitals.

Coach Rod Brind’Amour praised his team’s consistency and depth, saying they have “guys who have been through this for many years” that help them succeed in the playoffs. The Canes have a mix of veterans and new players, which Brind’Amour believes sets them apart from other teams.

The Hurricanes will now face either the Florida Panthers or Toronto Maple Leafs in the Eastern Conference final. A Canes-Panthers series would be a rematch of their 2023 Eastern Conference final, with the first two games to take place at Lenovo Center.
